Founder – Families Advocating for Voices of Resilience, Inc. (F.A.V.O.R.)
Carmen Coates is the CEO/Founder of F.A.V.O.R. She is a mother of four unique and wonderful children, who are living with mental/behavior health diagnosis. Carmen is a grandmother of two, a handsome grandson, Amire, and beautiful granddaughter, Alea. Carmen has a special love for family, along with a covenant love for all families. Through her life experiences she has made an awesome life sacrifice to help and assist all families.
One of Carmen’s goals in life is to help families maximize their fullest potential by helping them to have a voice in their treatment, education and daily life. Carmen is dedicated to educating, strengthening and empowering youths and their families in their present circumstances.
F.A.V.O.R. is a faith-based family ran organization, which set precedence by being the first family ran organization in the Nation to receive a CARF International Accreditation for CYS/Promotion/Prevention (Children and Adolescent)
Carmen continuously remains up to date and in compliance with current behavioral health policies and procedures by educating herself, taking workshops, attending seminars and conferences throughout the year. Carmen’s organization is also a National Federation of Families for Children Mental Health chapter since 2010. In addition, F.A.V.O.R also has a Youth Move Chapter, which is ran by F.A.V.O.R.’s youth.
Carmen Coates collaborates with numerous, same goal orient, agencies. These collaborations provide needed resources to Georgia’s communities. F.A.V.O.R. offered high school completion program, provides support groups, sponsor weekly food and clothing banks.
Prior to founding F.A.V.O.R. Carmen was a vital part of the DeKalb Family Policy Council. She co-chaired the Youth & Family workgroup and participated as a family member on the Youth & Family Finance Workgroup. Carmen is one of the founding Parents of the DeKalb Access & Resource Center. Carmen also worked for the Youth Matters Program in which she was one of the Founding Parents who created this program. This program is now currently undergirded by DeKalb County Department of Family and Children Services. Truly, Carmen Coates is a woman after God’s own heart. She strives to show the Love of God in all she does, as she, as she serves youth and families. Carmen continues to grow F.A.V.O.R. in a continual positive progression.
